One of the hardest things I found when planning our wedding was being able to visualise how everything would look once it came together. Sometimes it felt like I had a mish-mash of ideas that didn’t really fit. I think partly Pinterest can take a little of the blame – don’t get me wrong, I love Pinterest, but it’s too easy to get carried away with all the beautiful ideas other people have had and not think about what reflects you and your partner.
A good friend of mine suggested I crochet or knit my bouquet. I think she was actually joking, but I found some images on Pinterest and it actually looked like it could work. I even had a fleeting moment of craziness where I considered crocheting flowers for the centre-pieces. How glad am I that thought passed?!
Although I could find lots of images online, I actually found it really difficult to find tutorials to create the look I wanted. I wasn’t really sure where to start. So, when I decided to begin Marvellous Makes, this was one of the blogs I wanted to put together. Not a ‘how to’ as such but a guide on how to go about making your own crochet bouquet.
As I hadn’t taken photos when I created my original bouquet, I decided to recreate it. I’m glad I did, because I actually learnt more about the process the second time round. Just like the creation of the bouquet – the blog itself has turned in to a bit of a monster of a project, so I’ve decided to break it up in to a series of blogs. More to follow soon…
