Floral Photo Morning

I have always loved photography, since I was a little girl.  It’s not something I am particularly skilled at but I enjoy giving it a go. Last May, I took the Makelight ‘Beautify your Instagram’ course.  I’ve taken photography courses in the past, but there was something about the way the courses are presented which just clicked for me.  I’ve finally understood light and composition better than I have done before. I still have a long way to go, but I’ve seen a great improvement, in particular to my Instagram feed.

Following on from this course I joined the Makelight Membership.  This gives me access to more courses, a wonderfully supportive community and much, much more.  It keeps me on track to keep practising taking photos – even when time is not on my side.

Recently, another of the Makelight members – Hazel from Eden Blooms – arranged a photography morning at her local floral wholesalers: Dutchmasters Ltd.  The team at Dutchmasters were so welcoming and friendly.  I had such a lovely morning meeting Hazel and another Makelight member, Yvonne (One Purl Row) and taking photographs.  I didn’t take as many photos as I had hoped as the choice of flowers and props was a little overwhelming and I just hadn’t planned what sort of photos I wanted to take (a note for next time!).

It was great having Hazel to hand – she told us all the different names of the flowers (although they didn’t stay in my head!), showed us how to better present flowers in a vase and gave us a fun tulip fact: tulips continue to grow once they are cut, which is why they bend over after a few days in a vase, unless you cut them a bit short.

Here’s some of the photos I took that day. I hope you like them!
